The Part of a Wall You Never See

A base below frost

The footing goes on compacted gravel, deep enough that frost heave does not lift it.

Drainage behind the wall

Crushed stone and a perforated pipe, so water leaves instead of pushing.

Geotextile separation

Fabric between the soil and the stone, so the drainage does not silt up in three years.

Batter and capping

The wall leans back into the hill as it rises, then gets capped to shed water.

Most failed walls we get called to replace failed because water had nowhere to go. That is the part of the job we do not shortcut.

We look at what is behind it. If the drainage failed, patching the face just buys a season. We tell you which one it is at the estimate.
Do you install asphalt or poured concrete?
No. We build in paver, block and natural stone.
How tall can you go?
Tall walls get built in tiers rather than one run. We size it on site.
When can you come look at it?
Usually within a few days, and the visit is free.

Will the stone match the wall I already have?
No two pieces of natural stone are identical and we will not promise a match. We show you the material first and note it on the estimate.
